Abingdon Episcopal

Abingdon Episcopal Church, White Marsh, will hold worship and a historic grave wreath-laying service honoring local families at 2 p.m. Sunday presented with the Gloucester 250 Committee. Tours and refreshments will follow. Neighbors and history lovers are encouraged to attend, a release said.

Antioch Baptist

The Rev. Sean Cummings, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Susan, will speak at 11 a.m. Sunday in-person and on Facebook Live at weareantioch1869.

Apostles Lutheran

Apostles Lutheran Church, Gloucester, will hold the fourth Sunday of Easter (Christ the shepherd) worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The congregation will celebrate its 45th anniversary on Sunday. A coffee fellowship will follow the service.

Bellamy United Methodist

Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester, will hold worship at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 Sunday. The Rev. Doug Watson will preach. The adult Sunday School class meets at 9:30 and Children’s Church will be at 10:30. The Youth Group meets at 5 p.m., with dinner provided.

Bethany United Methodist

The sermon title of Pastor John Choi of Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point, for the 8:30 a.m. Sunday informal service and 11 o’clock traditional service will be “By His Wounds You Are Saved.” Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45.

Bethel Baptist

The Rev. Dr. Jonathan Stubbs will speak at the 11 a.m. Sunday service in Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester. Sunday school will begin at 9:15 in-person as well as virtually.

Central United Methodist

John Russell of Mathews Chapel U.M. Church, Cobbs Creek, will speak at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in Central United Methodist Church, Mathews. Sunday school follows worship at 10:15.

The UM Men and Central Village Homemakers will sponsor an art/yard sale from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 25. Rain date will be May 9. There will be a gigantic selection of household and yard items, a release said.

Church of the Living Word

The sermon title of Pastor Tiffany M. Foreman of Church of the Living Word, Hayes, at 10 a.m. Sunday will be “Be Encouraged.”

The Wednesday Bible study topic at 6:30 p.m. will be “Renewed Mindset.”

First Baptist, Ordinary

The sermon title of Pastor Ward Warren of First Baptist Church, Ordinary, at 10 a.m. Sunday will be “Momentarily, there will be Storms.” Church school will be at 9 o’clock.

Wednesday Bible study will be at 1 p.m.

First Morning Star Baptist

Minister James Spencer Jr. of Liberty Live Church, Hampton, will be the guest minister at the 11 a.m. Sunday service in First Morning Star Baptist Church, Bena. The Combined Choir will sing under the direction of Leander Myers.

Gloucester Union Relief Association of Missionary Baptist

The Youth Department of Gloucester Union Relief Association of Missionary Baptist will hold a Mother’s Day luncheon from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Morning Glory Baptist Church, Gloucester. Natalie Johnson of Abingdon Episcopal Church, White Marsh, will be the guest speaker and Shari Jarvis of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Cobbs Creek, will be the worship leader.

Grace Covenant Presbyterian

Pastor Jesse Hill of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Gloucester, will continue his series on “The Sermon on the Mount” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. His sermon title will be “Fulfilling the Law.”

Groves Memorial Presbyterian

The sermon title of the Rev. Michael Condrey of Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church, Hayes, at the 10 a.m. Sunday service will be “Correct Gate.”

The third annual Ladies’ Tea will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall.

Gwynn’s Island Baptist

Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church holds its outdoor drive-in worship services at the Gwynn’s Island Civic League’s Pavilion at 10 a.m. Sunday. Weather permitting, parking begins at 9:15. If the weather is stormy, worship will be in the church’s sanctuary. The sermon title of Dr. Ed Jordan, pastor, will be “The Truth about Faith.” Special music will be provided by Tyrone Hudgins and Island Praise. “Off Topics” Bible Study meets at 8:30.

The Ladies’ Bible Study meets at 10 a.m. Thursdays and the Men’s Bible Study meets at 9 a.m. Tuesdays.

Kingston Episcopal

Kingston Episcopal Parish, Mathews, will observe Holy Eucharist Rite II Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at Kingston Chapel in the parish house on Main Street.

Monday afternoon and Tuesday evening classes are canceled this coming week. Men’s Bible Study takes place at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Wednesday noon Holy Eucharist/Healing Service takes place in Meditation Chapel at the parish house.
