Services and other activities in churches this week include the following:

Bethany United Methodist

Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point, will celebrate Holy Communion on Sunday. The sermon title of Pastor Paul Song at 8:30 and 11 a.m. will be “Wisdom to Apply to the Heart.”

JOY Circle will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the fellowship hall. Guest speaker Shannon Minor will present a program on “Abuse in the Navy.” All ladies are welcome, a release said.

Effective Oct. 1, church office hours will be Tuesday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (closed from noon-1 p.m. for lunch; office closed Mondays).

Bethel Baptist

Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester, will celebrate Women’s Day on Saturday and Sunday. A Women’s Day breakfast will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at The First United Baptist Church. The theme for the breakfast will be “Praying with Purpose and Hattitude.” All women are asked to wear their favorite hat, a release noted.
