Service tonight to honor law enforcement

A National Police Week service will be held at 7 o’clock tonight at Faith Baptist Church, Route 14, Mathews.

The service, sponsored by the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office, will include a roll call of all law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2016. American Legion Post 83 will present the playing of “Taps” and fire a 21-gun salute. Awards will also be presented during the service.

This year’s host, Faith Baptist will provide refreshments and fellowship at the conclusion of the service, which is open to the public, Mathews Sheriff Mark Barrick said. ...
