For the next 14-16 months, two volunteer families in Mathews will raise two future service dog puppies in their homes as Canine Companion volunteers, teaching them approximately 30 commands and, most important, socializing the dogs in the community. The public is invited to come meet the puppies, and other Canine Companion dogs, on Mondays from 1-5 p.m. at the Helen and Murray Main Canine Companion location at 17262 John Clayton Memorial Highway, Mathews.
