Sentara Gloucester Therapy Center opened Nov. 19 at Gloucester Medical Arts, located in the Gloucester Business Park, White Marsh.

Team coordinator Natalie Brauchle said the new center is a satellite of Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Brauchle is also in charge of the Sentara Therapy Center in Mathews.

Brauchle operates the new center with the help of one assistant. Five people work at the Mathews center, she said.

The new center features a full performance gym where patients come to benefit from various physical therapy modalities. There are parallel bars used to improve walking motions after hip surgery and other conditions, and exercise machines designed to build arm strength. Balls, ropes and other apparatus are also used.

Staff designs custom treatments for the clients, Brauchle said, which might include strengthening exercises at the gym and at home, along with heat and cold pack treatments.
