Senior Safety Fair

Rob Hudgins of the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department, above, discusses fire safety during Mathews County Triad’s Senior Safety Fair, held on May 8 at the Piankatank Ruritan Club at Hudgins. Shannon Freeman of the Virginia Attorney General’s office was the keynote speaker at the annual fair. She talked about senior citizens and online dating. Sheriff Mark Barrick talked about seniors being scammed, and Major J.T. Williams provided those attending with information about Mathews County’s 2017 crime statistics.
