Senior housing plans discussed at Mathews planning meeting

Plans for a possible senior housing development in Mathews Court House were discussed during a meeting that was held in Mathews Memorial Library last Thursday to help determine the boundaries for implementing a Village Mixed Use district.

The Mathews County Planning and Zoning Department and the Planning Commission held the meeting in order to get the opinions of stakeholders on the matter. A map of the proposed district, which would provide options for development of a mix of residential and business uses, includes the parcels on the south side of Buckley Hall Road from the ABC store to the Dollar General store and the parcels along both sides of Main Street from Buckley Hall Road south to Vintage Gallery and The Brambles.
