Seidl named service manager at Auto Source

Ed Seidl is the new service manager at Auto Source of Gloucester, located on Route 17 south of Gloucester Court House.

Seidl joined Auto Source in early August, bringing with him more than 50 years of automotive experience.

He is in charge of writing service orders, with help from assistant service manager Bobby Panos. Also, Seidl oversees mechanic Pete Tancredi and another mechanic who will be added to the staff soon. They operate from four bays to the rear of the office.

Seidl said Auto Source mechanics can repair all types of domestic and foreign cars and trucks. Auto Source sells pre-owned cars and trucks.

Seidl began his automotive career at Suttle Motor Corporation in Newport News, working 10 years as a mechanic. Then, he switched gears, moving to the service management side. He has worked for about 10 automotive businesses on the Peninsula, Middle Peninsula and South Hampton Roads for a total of more than 40 years.

When Seidl began his career, he said vehicles did not have the many computerized systems they do now. He earned a technical degree at the William and Mary Technical Institute in Norfolk.

Originally from Hampton, Seidl resides in Mathews. His son Steve lives in Gloucester and works for Action Insurance. His daughter Kathy works for the U.S. Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C.

Gus Panos of Gloucester owns Auto Source. Panos has been in auto sales for about 20 years. He has owned Auto Source for six years, employing a staff of 10.
