Seaton wins regional title; 2 other Dukes advance to state meet

Three Gloucester High School wrestlers will advance to the Class 5 VHSL state tournament, which will be held on Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the state tournament only includes the top two qualifiers from each of the four regions. This is a change from years past, when the top four in each region would qualify for a state berth.

Josh Seaton, a junior, won his second straight regional title, going 3-1 in the regional tournament, which was held at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach.

Also qualifying for the state tournament were Ethan Baker and Austin Glockner, both placing as the regional runner-up. All three state qualifiers are returning state placers from 2020, where Seaton finished third, Baker fourth and Glockner as the state runner-up.

Additional regional placers included seniors Douglas Pruim and Josh Kuehn, both placing third.
