Seahorses win conference volleyball title

The Christchurch School volleyball team captured the Virginia Commonwealth Conference tournament championship Nov. 5, defeating the opponents from Fuqua Academy in a five-game contest. The Seahorses had previously claimed the regular season title. Christchurch advanced to the VISAA state tournament but lost, 3-2, to Westover Christian Academy in Danville on Nov. 8.

The Seahorses were led by junior outside hitter and co-captain Kate Corson of Gloucester, who was named the VCC Player of the Year and MVP of the VCC tournament. Ivy Perkins of Topping, a senior co-captain and setter, was named to the All-Conference First Team and the All-Tournament Team.
Senior libero Emily Moore of Saluda, was named to the All-Conference Second Team. She was also named to the All-Tournament Team along with sophomore outside hitter Kedron Walsh of Mathews. Senior middle blocker Allison Crittenden of Deltaville, received All-Academic honors and head coach Karen Byrd was named the VCC Coach of the Year....
