Students at the Bay School Community Arts Center practiced basic sculpting skills such as hollowing and additive methods to build an animal bust during a two-day class on Sculpting Animal Busts last Wednesday and Thursday. An animal’s head and face can be the most detailed and expressive parts of the body to sculpt, said a press release. By focusing on eyes, ears, and gesture, students highlighted species characteristics and emotion in their animals. Instruction included important finishing steps such as drying time, glazing, and firing methods.
