‘Science of Motivation’

Physical therapist Karen Kovacs, clinical director at Pivot Physical Therapy, Hayes, was invited to speak to the Gloucester Point Rotary Club during its regular meeting Tuesday morning at Olivia’s in the Village. Her topic was the “Science of Motivation.” Kovacs shared that motivation is what moves people to feel enthusiastic about what they are doing or what they want to get out of life before they die. According to science, she said, humans are driven by intangible, emotional forces that include the need to be recognized, feel ownership, a sense of accomplishment, the security of a long-term commitment, a sense of shared purpose and to feel as if our labor and lives matter in some way, even after death.
