Schools take on task of vaccinating employees

Gloucester County Public Schools notified its employees Jan. 27 that it had 200 COVID-19 vaccines available; most of those were administered Saturday at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, according to the school division’s nurse coordinator Lisa Jones.

On Saturday, division superintendent Walter Clemons notified employees that an additional 245 vaccines were available to school division employees. Those vaccines began to be administered Tuesday and will continue to be administered today and this Saturday, again at RWRH, according to Clemons.

About 500 school division employees said in an initial survey that they were interested in getting the vaccine. Jones said some employees have since changed their minds, either deciding to get the vaccine or not to be vaccinated.

Until a closer tally is taken among employees, Jones said she did not have any hard numbers regarding how many employees still desire to be vaccinated. “I do think we’re doing pretty well,” Jones said. “We should be...
