School spirit was on full display last week, with both Gloucester and Mathews hosting home football games. Above, Hannah Turnage of the Gloucester High School color guard team performs with the GHS Marching Dukes during halftime of last Thursday’s home game against Kecoughtan, which Gloucester won, 13-2. Below, the return of MHS football after a two-year hiatus drew an enthusiastic crowd, filling Ken Brown Field. Below, Avery Hensley is shown here as a Blue Devil cheerleader while Tanner Van Zant donned Devil horns and a cape. Mathews faced the visiting John Marshall Justices, falling 70-6. For more about the games, see related stories in the sports section.
