School solution: all grades 6,7 going to Peasley, grade 8 to special GHS space

The Gloucester County School Board approved a plan to accommodate middle school students for the 2011-2012 school year during a special work session on April 27.

Under the plan, all eighth grade students will attend classes in modular units placed in a self-contained campus area located at Gloucester High School. All sixth and seventh grade students will continue to attend Peasley Middle School.

This is the board’s interim solution for a two- to four-year period until a long-term decision can be made about Page Middle School, which was damaged in the April 16 tornado.

The board has scheduled an informational forum for 7 p.m. Monday at Gloucester High School in which superintendent Ben Kiser and his staff will provide more plan details and scheduling information as well as answer questions from the audience. Anyone not able to attend the forum may address questions or comments to Kiser at bkiser@gc.k12.va.us.
