School makes bus change to accommodate bridge restriction

Beginning Tuesday morning, due to new weight restrictions being placed on the Gwynn’s Island bridge, Mathews County Public Schools will be serving the island with two buses instead of one, according to Superintendent of Schools David J. Holleran.

Buses 18 and 011 will be dividing up the island, he said. Parents of Gwynn’s Island students are being called this week by the division to be informed of the change, as well as letters being mailed home, Holleran added.
