An American Daffodil Judges School 2 was sponsored by the Gloucester Daffodil Club at Brent and Becky’s Chesapeake Lounge on Thursday, March 25.
The school, sanctioned by the ADS, is one of three required for certification of daffodil judges along with other requirements. Three certified ADS judging school instructors gave lectures that were followed by tests. The students were also required to identify 20 of 30 daffodil cultivars. The instructors were Glenna Graves of Harrisonburg, Janet Hickman of Lynchburg and Mitch Carney of Boonesboro, Maryland.
Fourteen students took test to become ADS judges; five monitored the lectures and five certified judges monitored the classes, an activity required every three years to maintain certification.
