School counselor, math teacher appointed in Gloucester

The Gloucester County School Board appointed Carlee Hanchak of Newport News as the school counselor at Achilles Elementary and Kenneth Schulz of Gloucester as a math teacher at Page Middle School in personnel actions during its Feb. 14 meeting.

The board also appointed Brandy Graves of Dutton and Dawn Davis, Victoria Miles and Samantha Nichols, all of Gloucester, to support services positions.

The board accepted resignations from Bethel Elementary kindergarten teacher Jessica Adams, effective June 14, Achilles teacher assistant Eva Davis, effective Jan. 23, Gloucester High School physical education teacher Brandon Kelley, effective at the end of his current contract, and support services employees Sharon McNeal, effective Jan. 27, and Amy Heaton, effective March 6.  

The board approved retirement for technology services employee Nina Carter, Peasley language arts teacher Audrey Lowery, Bethel music teacher Carla Stanley and support services employee Milinda Walker, all effective July 1.

In appointments to co-curricular positions paid by supplement, William Moore was appointed the GHS head varsity crew coach and Dorsey Hooker was named the GHS assistant varsity baseball coach.

Also, John Mathews was appointed as the GHS junior varsity baseball coach, Evelyn Whitt was appointed as the GHS JV softball coach and Brad Cheatham and Lillian Collier were appointed as the GHS JV girls’ soccer coaches.
