School bus to take Achilles students to B&G Club

Children at Achilles Elementary now have an after-school ride option for getting to the Gloucester Boys and Girls Club. During its Sept. 9 meeting, the Gloucester School Board approved the club’s request for children to ride a school bus to the facility after school.

Gloucester County school buses have one or two runs in the afternoon. The school day ends earlier for middle and high school students, and some buses drop off those children before making a second run to transport elementary children. Other buses have a single run and return to the bus garage after dropping off the older kids.

School division assistant superintendent John Hutchinson said there is a single run bus that takes older students to their homes in the Achilles Elementary neighborhood. He said that bus could easily pick up Achilles Elementary children and drop them off at the club on the way back to the bus garage.
