School briefs

David Coleman Tillage graduated cum laude with a bachelor of business administration degree in finance from James Madison University during commencement ceremonies May 4. Tillage did concentrated studies in financial analysis. He is the son of David and Holly Tillage of Hayes.

Melanie Hollis of Gloucester, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at New River Community College. The recognition requires a 3.2 or higher grade point average.

Candie Cowden of Ark, and Kimberly Haas of North, were recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Old Dominion University. Phi Kappa Phi is a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Gloucester High School sophomore Caitlin Cain attended the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Seminar Friday through Sunday at James Madison University. During the seminar, Cain attended workshops and programs designed to inspire participants to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.
