School briefs

Twin sisters Connelly and Mary Beth Hardaway, juniors at the University of Virginia, have both been awarded the Peter and Phyllis Pruden Scholarship. The Pruden Scholarship is awarded to select rising fourth-year students for their excellence in the English department. Both girls are English majors, with concentrations in modern studies. They plan to study abroad this summer as part of the UVA program "The Culture of London: Past and Present." The 2009 graduates of Gloucester High School are the daughters of Laurie and Scott Hardaway of Hayes.

Tiffany Walker Gardner of Hayes, received a master of business administration degree from Averett University during commencement ceremonies on April 28.
