School briefs

Andrew A. Finley of Gloucester, recently received a bachelor of arts degree in photography from Thomas Edison State College. Finley is also a graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy, the New York Institute of Professional Photography and the USDA Graduate School New Leader Program. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin A. Finley of Walkerton, Ind., Finley is a master training specialist at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown.

Rachel Carrington Finney has been named to the fall semester dean’s list at Wofford College. The recognition requires a 3.6 or higher grade point average. Finney is the daughter of Scott and Denise Finney of Gloucester.

Martin William Walker of Hayes, recently received a bachelor of science degree from Excelsior College.

Five local students graduated from Averett University during commencement ceremonies Dec. 10. Courtney Moore Blair, Natalie Anne Hubbard and Cathy Freeman Smith M’Cleod, all of Gloucester, received master of education degrees with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction.

Scott Christopher Hay and Michelle Sherwood Wintermantel, both of Hayes, received master of business administration degrees through Averett’s Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) program.
