Staci Altizer has been named to the fall semester dean’s list at James Madison University where she is a junior majoring in English. The recognition requires a 3.5 or higher grade point average. Altizer is the daughter of Tammy Altizer of Gloucester, and Charles Altizer of Hampton.

Caitlyn Belvin was named the outstanding youth of the month in December by the Mathews Boys & Girls Club. A good student, Belvin is the president of the Torch Club. She helps out with the younger members at the club and helps the staff clean up the building, said a press release. In addition, she helps watch the front counter and answers the telephone.
