Ashley Lauren Shackelford of Mathews, graduated magna cum laude on May 14 from the Virginia Tech College of Mechanical Engineering. She is the daughter of Bill and Stephanie Shackelford and the granddaughter of Muriel Shackelford and Tom Hardy.

Achilles Elementary School teacher Rhonda Taylor received funding from several donors through the Donors Choose site for her project, “Real Life CSI, Real Fun Lessons” for third through fifth grades. SONIC Drive-In matched all donations Taylor received on May 3 until the project was fully funded at $257.

Mackenzie Sullivan of Gloucester, was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Berry College in Georgia. The dean’s list honors students who earned an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester.
