Madeline Brown of Hudgins, graduated cum laude with a degree in nursing from James Madison University during commencement exercises in May 2021. Other local JMU graduates included Ellis Finney of Gloucester, who received a degree in English, Afton Thayer and Alexandra Woller of Gloucester, who both received degrees in psychology, Victoria Wilson of Gloucester, who received a degree in sport and recreation management, Lauren Crossley of Hayes, who received a degree in kinesiology and Addison Boyer of Mathews, who received a degree in psychology.

Five local residents recently graduated from the College of William and Mary. They included Sterling Ransone of Cobbs Creek, who received a bachelor of arts degree, Reagan Jackson of Mathews, who received a bachelor of arts degree, Macy Calder of Gloucester Point, who received a bachelor of science degree, and Mackenzie Chriscoe and Christopher Glenn of Gloucester, who each received bachelor of science degrees.
