Rachel Morgan Abbott of Hayes, recently received a bachelor of arts degree in music from Virginia Tech. Her focuses were horn performance and music education, and she graduated cum laude. Abbott is continuing her studies at Virginia Tech and will receive a master’s of arts degree in curriculum and instruction in 2019. She is the daughter of Linda Tjossem of Hayes, and Deke and Susan Abbott of Anchorage, Alaska.

Reilly Price of Hartfield, a Mathews High School senior who will graduate on Saturday, earned a second prize in Rappahannock Community College’s Spring Semester 2018 Student Research Paper Awards. The subject of her paper was “Developing a Method for Fluorescent Antibody Tagging for Identification of Female Cells in Mixed Forensic Samples.” She received a $100 award for the piece.
