Ebony Dominique Lynch received a doctor of philosophy in educational psychology from Capella University on Nov. 30. Lynch also holds a master of science degree in community and college counseling from Longwood University and a bachelor of arts degree in social science from Averett University. A 1999 graduate of Mathews High School, Lynch is the daughter of Mary C. Lynch of Cardinal, and Willie and Gloria Lynch of Tampa, Fla.

Tucker Busic, a fifth grade student at Thomas Hunter Middle School, was the recipient of the Kiwanis Club of Middlesex’s Above and Beyond Award for his outstanding efforts during the first marking period of the 2013-2014 school year. Stephanie Tiller from Chesapeake Bank and Kiwanis club member Joseph Cromwell presented Tucker with the honor at the awards assembly last month.
