School brief

Victoria Angel Carmine of Mathews has been selected as a recipient of Chick-fil-A’s $1,000 Leadership Scholarship. Carmine was nominated by John Gordon, operator of the Gloucester restaurant. Carmine has worked for Chick-fil-A since Gloucester’s grand opening in January 2011. A 2010 graduate of Mathews High School, Carmine is currently attending Rappahannock Community College. The Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship Program began in 1973 out of founder Truett Cathy’s desire give incentive to restaurant employees to further their education. Since the program’s inception, more than 3,100 team members have received scholarships, bringing the total amount to nearly $30 million.
