The Gloucester County School Board decided during its Aug. 6 virtual retreat to hold its next meeting on Tuesday in person at the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.; social distancing and masks are required.
The board had been meeting virtually since the COVID-19 virus closed schools in March and a state of emergency was declared nationally, statewide and locally.
Virtual meetings by public bodies are allowed until Sept. 4 but the school board decided to hold its meeting Tuesday in person as it continues to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year.
Also, during the retreat, the board approved one religious exemption for a student for the 2020-2021 school year and approved an early kindergarten registration request.
In addition, the board re-assigned Bethel Elementary School teacher Michelle Kennedy as a teacher at Peasley Middle School, effective Aug. 27.
The board also approved retirement for Achilles kindergarten teacher Donna Phillips and Botetourt Elementary School teacher Robin Sadler, both effective Sept. 1.
