School board to hold end-of-year meeting Tuesday

The Mathews County School Board will close the books on the 2020-2021 school year at its annual end-of-year meeting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Mathews High School media center.

The special meeting will include approval of the payment of year-end claims, a review of expenditure and revenue reports for 2020-2021 by division superintendent Nancy Welch and director of business and finance Kristi Anthony, as well as approval of the authorization of school board chair John Priest and clerk Sharon Morgan to sign documents and take actions until appointments are made at the board’s July meeting.

Following the special end-of-year meeting, the school board will hold a retreat moderated by Virginia School Boards Association Executive Director Gina Patterson and Director of Membership Services Jessica Blythe.

The retreat will include a board self-evaluation, review of current school board priorities and protocols and other matters.
