School board, supervisors review $61.1M budget

Gloucester school division superintendent Walter Clemons reviewed his $61.1 million FY2019 budget proposal with county supervisors during a joint meeting Tuesday with the school board at the T.C. Walker Education Center.

Clemons presented his budget plan to the school board during its work session last Thursday, but no action was taken. The school board is expected to approve an FY2019 budget during its March 29 work session. 

Also during the joint meeting, an architect presented plans for a $71.9 million renovation and expansion project at Gloucester High School. The school board heard the presentation in January but has not acted on the project plans. 

The superintendent’s proposed $61,120,414 budget includes $2.9 million in federal funds, $30,478,405 in state funds and a county contribution of $27,593,387. The county contribution sought is an increase of $3.2 million over the current county allocation.
