School board moves ahead with transportation facility MOA

The Gloucester School Board approved a Memorandum of Agreement with county supervisors that will allow the county to access the school division’s transportation facility site to begin planning for its future use. The MOA was approved by a vote of 7-0 during the board’s Dec. 14 meeting at the T.C. Walker Education Center.

The current transportation facility is located at the former site of Page Middle School on Route 17. The school division will turn over the site and the facility to the county when its new $7.2 million transportation facility on T.C. Walker Road is constructed.

The new facility will be built on the site of the current Page Middle School and construction should begin next year. The division has contracted with Oyster Pont Construction in Newport News to build the facility.
