School board meeting centers on student happenings

The Gloucester County School Board focused its attention on students during the board’s regular monthly meeting, held Tuesday night in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium.

Grace Spaulding and Charles Somervell III were honored as the Gloucester High School seniors of the month. Spaulding holds a grade point average of 3.7 and is a member of the Beta and Renaissance clubs. She is also a competitive cheerleader and works part-time as a receptionist at a local hair salon. Upon graduation in June, Spaulding plans to attend college to study neuroscience and psychology with the goal of becoming a criminal psychologist.

Somervell plays the trombone in the GHS band and has been selected for All-District band each of his four years. He also was a drum major for the GHS Marching Dukes this past fall and earned straight superior ratings at the VBODA State Marching Band Assessment.
