The Gloucester School Board made several personnel appointments at its Nov. 8 meeting at the T.C. Walker Education Center.
Gwendolyn Szulgit of Newport News was appointed to a social studies teaching position at Gloucester High School, effective Dec. 5; Heavenly Sullivan of Hayes was appointed to a building level substitute position at Petsworth Elementary School, effective Oct. 31; Amanda Payne of Gloucester was appointed to a building level substitute position at Botetourt Elementary School, effective Nov. 10; Katie Hefner of Hayes was appointed to a building level substitute position at Page Middle School, effective Nov. 15; Brittany Craven of Hayes was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Abingdon Elementary School, effective Nov. 14; Lucille Shankle of Gloucester was appointed to a cafeteria worker position at GHS, effective Nov. 1; Amy Daniel of Hayes was appointed to a bus driver position, effective Nov. 1; Virginia West of Gloucester was appointed to a bus driver position, effective Nov. 1; Rachell Velez of Gloucester was appointed to a bus assistant position, effective Nov. 1; Jessica Westmoreland of Hayes was appointed to a building level substitute position at Achilles Elementary School, effective Nov. 15; Paulette Lawrence of Gloucester was appointed to a building level substitute position at Bethel Elementary School, effective Nov. 14; Tiffany Kanaday of Gloucester was appointed to a cafeteria worker position at Page, effective Dec. 1; Bradley Miller of Gloucester was appointed to a custodian position at Bethel, effective Nov. 8 and Susan Bowers of Gloucester was appointed to a special education position at Peasley Middle School, effective Nov. 17.
The board also accepted to following substitute appointments:
Amy Daniel, Theresa Bailey, Alice Massengill and Andy Eaton were appointed to substitute bus driver positions. Bonnie Perdelwitz was appointed to a substitute cafeteria worker position. Julia Harris was appointed to a substitute clerical position. Anya Jones, Isabel Gauthier, Carolyn Cupp, Emily Baker, Kimberly Anderson, Rachel Hennon, Melissa Shahan and Laura Adams were all appointed to substitute teaching positions.
Several reassignments were also accepted at the meeting.
Shelby Kellar was reassigned from a paraprofessional position to a special education teacher position at GHS, effective Oct. 31; Natoya Smith was reassigned from a paraprofessional position to a building level substitute position at Abingdon, effective Nov. 1; Michelle Jacobson was reassigned from a five-hour bus driver position to a seven-hour position, effective Nov. 1; Anthony Ware was reassigned from a custodian position at Page to the same position at Petsworth, effective Oct. 31; Ashley George was reassigned from a paraprofessional position at Peasley to a similar position at GHS, effective Oct. 31; Delaney Timberlake was reassigned from a custodian position to an assistant custodial foreman position at Bethel, effective Jan. 1; and Connor Butler was reassigned from technology education at GHS to a technology services position, effective date to be determined.
The board also accepted several separations.
Carolyn Cupp resigned from a paraprofessional position at Abingdon, effective Oct. 25; Damon Etheridge resigned from a special education teaching position at Peasley, effective Oct. 13; Polly Harrison resigned from a paraprofessional position at Botetourt, effective Dec. 16; John Perrin resigned from coaching track and field, effective Oct. 25; Ann Covey resigned from teaching kindergarten at Bethel, effective Dec. 31; Laura Adams resigned from a paraprofessional position at Botetourt, effective Nov. 4; and Juliet Smith retired from an assistant custodial foreman position at Bethel, effective Jan. 1.
