School board makes personnel appointments

The Gloucester School Board approved a number of personnel appointments at its regular monthly meeting Sept. 13 in the T.C. Walker Education Center Auditorium.

Donna Behrens of Toano was appointed to a fifth grade teaching position at Petsworth Elementary School, effective Sept. 12; Diana Brock of Gloucester was appointed to a fourth grade teaching position at Abingdon Elementary School, effective Aug. 18; Allison Childers of Hayes was appointed for a fourth grade teaching position at Achilles Elementary School, effective Aug. 19; Shaquetta Jones of Locust Hill was appointed to a special education position at Achilles, effective Sept. 19; Emily Mathews of Gloucester was appointed to a school counselor position at Petsworth, effective Sept. 12; Cynthia Montague of Mathews was appointed to a math teaching position at Gloucester High School, effective Aug. 18; Vilmarie Velazquez of Gloucester was appointed to a special education position at Bethel Elementary School, effective Aug. 30; Christine Young of Gloucester was appointed to a school nurse position at GHS, effective Aug. 23; Kathleen Brady of Saluda was appointed to a bus driver position, effective Aug. 29; Andrea Forrest of Gloucester was appointed to an office associate position at Petsworth, effective Sept. 6; Robert Outlaw of Mattaponi was appointed to a bus driver position, effective Aug. 29; Cheryl Hallin-Copeland of Gloucester was appointed to a bus driver position, effective Aug. 29; Laura Adams of Gloucester was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Botetourt Elementary School, effective Aug. 24; Leroy Scatliffe Jr. of Hayes was appointed to a custodian position at Botetourt, effective Aug. 29; Natoya Smith of Gloucester was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Abingdon, effective Aug. 24; Katina Butler of Cobbs Creek was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Petsworth, effective Aug. 29; Stephanie Blackburn of Gloucester was appointed to an office associate position at Achilles, effective Sept. 6; Ricky Watson of Gloucester was appointed as a security officer at Peasley Middle School, effective Sept. 6; James Munson of Gloucester was appointed to a custodian position at Page Middle School, effective Sept. 12; Kylie Dunn of Gloucester was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Abingdon, effective Sept. 12; Stevi Speropoulos of Hayes was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Bethel, effective Sept. 26; Katie Adams of Gloucester was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Peasley, effective Sept. 26; Ashley George of Hayes was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Peasley, effective Sept. 14; Peggy Norman of Gloucester was appointed to a bus driver position, effective Oct. 1; and Amanda Hanstine of Gloucester was appointed to a cafeteria worker position at Peasley, effective Oct. 1.

The school board also made the following substitute appointments at the meeting:
Mathew Hawley, Molly Morgan, Christy Hurst, Marcia Pittman, Genevieve Longerbeam, Mary Bentley Streat, Carolyn Cupp, Tracie Morris, Rebecca Brewer, Victoria Carter, Christina Cox, Lindsay Lane, Michelle Bogert, Sheila Smith, Hayley Wagner, Cierra Hudgins, Grant Christensen, Michelle Richmond and Danielle Rusk were all appointed as substitute teachers.

Melissa Davenport, James Munson, Virginia West and Peggy Norman were appointed to substitute bus driver positions.
Cecil Womble, Donna Fox, Amanda Hanstine, Te’Ara Bouldin, Carolyn Vasta, Kristen Long and Lucille Shankle were appointed to various substitute appointments for the school district.

The following reassignments were also made:
Kelly Revere was reassigned from a paraprofessional position at Bethel to a first grade teaching position at Petsworth, effective Aug. 24; Natasha Eppard was reassigned from a paraprofessional position at Page to the same position at GHS, effective Aug. 24; Jennifer Jernigan was reassigned from a bus driver position to a dispatcher position in the transportation department, effective Oct. 1; and Carlie Prater was reassigned from a paraprofessional position at Abingdon to a building level substitute at the same school, effective Oct. 1.

The following resignations were also accepted by the school board:
Jennifer Gamble resigned from a health sciences career and technical education teaching position at GHS, effective Aug. 12; Dalila Johnson-Montes resigned from a Spanish teaching position, effective Aug. 9; Susana Roseme resigned from a paraprofessional position at Abingdon, effective Aug. 19; Julie Edwards resigned from an office associate position at Achilles, effective Sept. 8; Meredith Smith resigned from a cafeteria worker position at GHS, effective Aug. 25; and Tiffany Kanaday and Sandra Gibson both verbally resigned from bus driver positions, both effective Aug. 25.
