School board makes personnel appointments

The Gloucester County School Board made several personnel appointments at its July 9 meeting held in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium.

Alison Wilson of Hayes was appointed to an administrative associate position at Abingdon Elementary School, effective July 1; Destiny Ferrara-D’Amico of Hayes was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Peasley Middle School, effective Aug. 21; Sally Berger of Williamsburg was appointed to a kindergarten position at Abingdon, effective Aug. 12; Amy Burton of Richmond was appointed to a Spanish teaching position at Gloucester High School, effective Aug. 12; Lydia Sarpong of Gloucester was appointed to a fifth grade teaching position at Abingdon, effective Aug. 12; and Renae Fore of Gloucester was appointed to a Spanish teaching position at Peasley, effective Aug. 12.

In contract reassignments, Jennifer Florero was reassigned from a paraprofessional position at Petsworth Elementary to the same position in the school’s special education department, effective Aug. 21; Cheryl Polston was reassigned from a paraprofessional position at Abingdon to the same position at Botetourt Elementary School, effective Aug. 21; Moei Eng Ngoh was reassigned from a paraprofessional position at Peasley to the same position at Achilles Elementary School, effective Aug. 21; Michelle Kennedy was reassigned from a sixth grade English Language Arts teaching position to an English Language Learner teaching position for the division, effective Aug. 14; Karen McGrath was reassigned from a paraprofessional special education position at Abingdon to a special education teaching position at Page Middle School, effective Aug. 12; Carlie Prater was reassigned from a paraprofessional position to a special education teaching position at Abingdon, effective Aug. 12; Hannah Campbell was reassigned from a building level substitute position at Peasley to a paraprofessional special education position at Abingdon, effective Aug. 21; Katherine Skowera was reassigned from a paraprofessional position at GHS to a paraprofessional special education position at Botetourt, effective Aug. 21; Susan Bowers was reassigned from an eighth grade English language arts teaching position to a sixth grade English language arts teaching position at Peasley, effective Aug. 14; and Keri-Sue Baker was reassigned from a seventh grade English language arts teaching position to an eighth grade English language arts teaching position at Peasley, effective Aug. 14.

The board also approved the following separations:

Gregory Garza resigned from a floating cafeteria assistant manager position, effective June 20; Natoya Smith resigned from a paraprofessional position at Abingdon, effective June 28; LeahRose Gibson resigned from a music teaching position at Bethel Elementary School, effective July 1; Casey McCammon resigned from an eighth grade civics teaching position at Page, effective July 8; Dana Cooper resigned from a special education teaching position at Page, effective July 8 and Beverly Sabourin retired from a school nurse position at Peasley, effective July 1.
