School board budget topic of tonight’s joint meeting

A discussion of the Gloucester County School Board’s recommended fiscal year 2015 budget will be the focus of a joint meeting tonight of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors and school board. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 o’clock in the Thomas Calhoun Walker Education Center auditorium.

Another item on the agenda includes addressing concerns about privatizing certain school board functions, which was brought up earlier this month by York district supervisor Phillip Bazzani. Bazzani said he hoped the school board would consider privatizing certain functions such as cafeteria, transportation and information technology to save the county money. 

The two boards will also discuss request for proposal (RFP) requirements for transportation consolidation studies.
