School board appoints transportation, counseling directors

Two employees were promoted to director positions in personnel actions taken by the Gloucester County School Board during its May 8 meeting.

The board promoted Anne Lanan of Gloucester to director of transportation for the school division. Lanan worked as a legal secretary before taking a job as a substitute bus driver with Gloucester Pubic Schools in 1995 so she could spend more time with her young daughter.

In 1999, Lanan became a dispatcher for the transportation department and in 2006 she was promoted to pupil transportation specialist. Her position as director is effective Sept. 1. She replaces Roger Kelly who is retiring after 25 years with the school division.

Matthew Lord was named the director of school counseling at Gloucester High School, effective July 1. Lord resides in Williamsburg and joined the school division as a counselor in 1999.
