Schaumleffel marks 30 years with Zimmerman’s Marine

Jeff Schaumleffel of Zimmerman’s Marine hit a milestone last month of 30 years with the Mathews-based boat-building and repair company.

A carpentry and fiberglass specialist, Schaumleffel is Zimmerman’s longest-standing employee. He works on all aspects of build-out, from installing flooring to building cabinetry to fabricating fiberglass consoles. His most recent projects have been completion of a leaning post for a 28-foot center console fishing boat and installation of a teak-and-holly sole on a 50-foot Grand Bank Aleutian.

While he has lived in King and Queen County for over a decade, Schaumleffel spent most of his life in Gloucester. He was five years old when his Coast Guard family moved from Michigan to Gloucester County, and it was here that he developed his love of carpentry.
