Political columnist Jeff E. Schapiro will lead "A Civics Dialog for Active Minds" at noon on Thursday, June 20, at Mathews Memorial Library, Main Street, Mathews.

An award-winning columnist with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Schapiro has covered Virginia elections and the Virginia State Capitol for 30 years.

Discussing the law and politics, Schapiro has said the two don’t mix well. "The law is rooted in the absolutes of precedent," he said, "politics, in the ambivalence that ambition demands."
