Scalf named GHS football coach

John Scalf, the interim head football coach at Gloucester High School, was appointed as the head football coach for the 2017-2018 school year by the Gloucester School Board last Thursday. 

Scalf has been the interim coach since Brandon Kelley announced his departure in February. Scalf has been an assistant under Kelley since Kelley took the head football coaching job in 2013. He also teaches earth science at GHS. 

In other personnel actions, the board accepted resignations from regional special education teacher Patricia Morgan, Achilles Elementary fourth grade teacher Tara Shumate, and GHS Spanish teacher Stella Viera, all effective at the end of the school year. 

Resignations were also accepted from support employees Michael Calautti and Nydia Seaton, both effective March 31. 

Retirement was approved for Page Middle School teacher Pamela Carpenter, Bethel Elementary teacher Rhonda Quinn, and support employee Gloria Smith, all effective July 1.  ...
