Saunders named grand marshal

 

Volunteering has always been in longtime Gloucester resident Ronald Saunders’ blood. After dedicating countless hours to a number of community organizations and clubs, Saunders is now on the receiving end, being honored as grand marshal of the Citizens’ Christmas and Holiday Parade in Gloucester. The parade is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Saturday along Main Street.

“Volunteering is a part of me,” Saunders said. “It’s a natural process for me.”

Serving needs in the community began at an early age for Saunders. While still in school on the Peninsula, he became involved with March of Dimes WalkAmerica, a voluntary health agency with a mission to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality.
