Saturday’s Mathews May Faire to honor the military

This weekend’s May Faire celebration will be all about honoring past and present members of the military.

May Faire 2019, “A Salute to the Military,” will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday in and around the Mathews Court Green. It will include musical depictions and historical displays to bring focus on each of the nation’s major conflicts.

The event, which is presented by the Mathews Historical Museum, will celebrate the county’s past by saluting those who have served and those who serve in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and Merchant Marine. The event will also recognize and honor the 100th anniversary of American Legion Post #83, Mathews.

“Each portion of our program has been carefully designed to reflect our county’s contributions to the nation’s conflicts,” said May Faire Committee chair Sandy Warhol.
