Gloucester County will try to set a record Saturday, as participants gather for what organizers hope will make the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest cakewalk.
More than 100 cakes have been donated for the event, which is being held as a way to raise money for a new handicapped accessible playground for Woodville Park.
The event is being held rain or shine. “With over 100 cakes, we have to get it done,” Denise Carter of Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism said. The pre-registration rate of $10 for individuals and $25 for families of any size has been extended through the morning of the event.
Main Street will be closed for the event around the Court Circle and traffic detoured from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parking for the event will be available behind the county office buildings and along Main Street, outside of the detour area.
