Sarah “Sally” M. Beatty, of Broad Bay Road, Virginia Beach, passed away, Feb. 18, 2013.

A native of Gloucester she was the daughter of the late John and Edna Hogge Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar L. Beatty, and her two brothers, Jesse and Edgar Moore.

Mrs. Beatty was retired from Butler-Hartsell Insurance Company, and was a former active member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society and the Exxon Annuitant Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy E. Schaefer and husband Paul of Virginia Beach; son, Louis O. Beatty and wife Dianne of Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren, Angel B. Pritt, Pamela E. Beatty, Dr. Mark Schaefer, Todd Schaefer, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in the Laskin Road Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Francis Asbury United Methodist Church.
