Samuel Jenkins, 91, of Hayes, passed away on October 27, 2016.

Sam was born in Gloucester County, Virginia, and was a lifelong resident of the Severn community in Gloucester. He was a retired building contractor. Sam loved music, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved people. Sam will be missed by so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Smiley and Lizemily Jenkins; wife, Ruby Jenkins, and son, Sammy Ray Jenkins.

He is survived by his daughters, Faye Coates and Susan Coates; his son, Dennis Jenkins; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kellum, Melissa West, Wilford Coates Jr., Jonathan Coates, Heather Shackelford, Kyler Jenkins, Amanda Jenkins and Jennifer Jenkins, and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial service, conducted by the Rev. Margaret Loudan, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2016, at Gloucester Point Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
