Samuel E. Ellison Sr. of Gloucester, departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011.

He was a member of Union Zion Baptist Church, and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his sons, Samuel (Marcia) and Ivan (Linda) Ellison; sisters, Mary and Helen; brother, Willie; sisters-in-law, Ruth, Sadie and Elaine; brother-in-law, Wythe; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, in Union Zion Baptist Church.
