Sally Ann Thompson, 87, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 3, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Lee Thompson. She graduated Mathews High School as valedictorian, Class of 1952. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 83. She worked diligently as deputy commissioner of revenue for Mathews County for 30 years. She enjoyed working in her yard, bird-watching, the beach and living in her beloved Mathews County. A devoted Christian at Central United Methodist Church, she is now with the Lord.

She is survived by her son, Scott Thompson of Mathews; daughter, Tracy McRacken (Rob) of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Chandler McKnight (Lee) and Amanda and Patrick McRacken; great-grandchild, Brooks McKnight, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021, at H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Cobbs Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mathews County Volunteer Rescue Squad.
