SALLIE KELLUM COX

Sallie Kellum Cox, 91, of Hayes, departed this life on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at home with family by her side.

Sallie, the daughter of the late Walter and Eugie Haywood Kellum, was born and lived her whole life in Gloucester County, and was a member of the Church of God.

She was a devoted wife to her husband Bonnie for 71 years, and a devoted mother to her five children.

Sallie loved gardening, cooking and big Sunday dinners surrounded by her children and grandchildren. In her golden years, she enjoyed watching game shows and Sunday gospel channels.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie Cox; sisters, Margaret Cox and Christine West; brothers, Stillman Kellum, Vendell Kellum Sr., and Thomas Edward Kellum.

She is survived by her daughters, Doris Gibson, Betty Holden, Mary Hartman and husband John, Cindy Long; son, Jonathan Wayne Cox and wife Lori; sister, Catherine Langner and husband Ben; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends Monday, April 8, 2013, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
