Gloucester Ruritan Club president Meggie Bombard, at left, presented Kim Lawver, Executive Director of the nonprofit Sail Beyond Cancer, a club mug for her presentation at the club’s June meeting at Ann’s Family Diner. The nonprofit’s mission is to honor those challenged with cancer to leave cancer at the dock while enjoying the healing powers of wind, water and sail. The group offers two types of three-hour cruises with patients and their families or caretakers: respite sails for those with active cancer treatments and memorial sails.
